Kindergarten & 1st grade

1 hour weekly class

Our smallest school age thespians will begin to explore who they are as an artist in this class and demonstrate their creative independence in a safe and supportive environment. The amount of focus and self control they are required to have in their school classroom can carry over to the studio space and be redirected into imaginative play where silliness and big ideas are welcome. Theatre games, improv exercises, literature-based character study and development of their ideas into skits will help students start exploring the world of theatre.

2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade

1 hour weekly class

If you are new to theatre or a veteran performer, this class has something to challenge and inspire each child. Theatre games, improv exercises and literature-based character study will be the focus of this class. Students will begin to offer their own stories, and offer favorites they’ve read, to use as source material to study character and plot. Through movement and voice training students will gain confidence and control. This class, too, will focus more on the development of the child as a dramatic artist as opposed to the focus on production. They will begin to form concrete life skills that will benefit them for years to come.

5th & 6th grade

1 hour weekly class

Students at this level will learn about the rehearsal process. Students will also be learning to write and create original work to be presented at the year end showcase. The goal will be harnessing their imaginations and creativity to develop stories and characters that will truly entertain and inspire audiences! This class will enjoy the same theatre games, improv and other exercises but also start to develop their craft in a very concrete way. The collaborative efforts and proactive thinking required at this level will start to give students tools that will serve them both personally and professionally for life.

7th & 8th grade

1 hour weekly class

The dynamics of this class will focus on young actors gaining as much confidence and control of their instrument as possible. Students at this level will be introduced to more challenging acting exercises and development of their natural abilities onstage. Junior high students will work toward a fully mounted production for the year end showcase. Acting and improv exercises along with scene study will be the core of building on their drama foundation. Students will also be encouraged to write and create original work. Learning to work as an ensemble and focusing on teamwork will help them better collaborate during the rehearsal process.

**This class will have additional studio time available the second half of the year to rehearse for their final production.

High School

1 hour weekly class

Our highest level class will dig into a deeper level of theatre study. Classes will include characterization, dramatic scene study, improv, stand up comedy and introductions to both Stanislavski’s Method and the Meisner technique. Students will also enjoy theatre games and other fun exercises to gain better control of their bodies and voices as their artistic instrument. This class level will learn all the steps in the production process and work collaboratively toward the play as the end result of their training. They will need to appreciate a broader scope of what goes into mounting a fully realized theatrical production aside from their presence onstage which will include all the technical demands of performances.

**This class will have additional studio time available the second half of the year to rehearse for their final production.
